It's very nice to be making outside in the garden while visiting in Melbourne - a potter friend has kindly offered to fire a few pots for me while I'm here. The finished pot is nearly 30 inches tall (75 cm), and will be fired in a gas kiln - the first time I've fired with gas (not something I'd wish to continue doing given the climate emergency, but happy to have the experience). Glazes will be improvised from memory, subject to the materials on hand, so results will be different and intriguing! Although the pot looks quite firm, actually the base is only just dry enough to support the new additions, and the whole pot is still malleable when finished - in the Australian heat it's possible to work quite fast!
